ED MUTSAERS
During my graphic design education at the Academy of Fine Arts Sint Joost, I got hooked on photography and illustration. After graduation, trained as a graphic designer, I eventually started to work in the field of advertising.
Over the years, while working for different design agencies, I felt I was somehow neglecting my passion for arts and photography. I neatly kept thousands of pictures in archives and not one of them had ever seen the light of day the way I figured. So in 2007, pushed by my friend Mark van de Heuvel, I decided to unlock my archives and start working.
This resulted in my first exhibition ‘beeldvanger’ in Atelier 17 Middelbeers. The enthusiastic reactions of the visitors, the work commissoned and not to forget my feelings, confirmed that I had embarked on the right path. Still working as a full time graphic designer during the day, the evenings and nights became more and more the hours of ‘beeldvanger’.
As of september 2011 I am working partime as an art director / graphic designer, focusing strongly on ‘beeldvanger’. Combining my acquired skills in both autonomous and commissioned work, trying to capture emotion and memories with photographs as my working material.
‘Let’s see what the future brings.’
